Our Approach to SEO

We know SEO (Search Engine Optimisation) is considered by some to be somewhat of a black art, that's why we ensure that our clients know exactly what we are doing for them and why we are doing it.

Ideally we will meet face-to-face so we can fully explain exactly how we work as we know it's a hugely documented practice these days and it can appear to be a bit baffling at times! Our aim is to educate you in the basic practices of SEO so you can understand what you are paying us to do. Also, there are lots of proactive things you can be doing yourself to help improve your website rankings.

A Basic Overview of the Steps Involved

We can optimise your existing website or build a new website for you with your optimisation strategy in mind. Generally we take the same approach to both. Firstly we establish your definitive keyword list by talking to you about your business and researching which keywords have a high level of traffic and a relatively low level of competition. We then look at the top ten websites ranking for these keywords and perform some competitor analysis. These are the sites we need to beat to appear on the first page for your keywords. Next we will look at your on page optimisation, this is the content of your website and the structure of the code.

When we are happy we have a definitive keyword list, we know who our competitors are and how well optimised their sites are, we have optimised the content and code on your website, we will then tackle the off page optimisation and optionally set up a PPC (Pay Per Click) campaign. The off page optimisation is generally done on a monthly basis via one of our SEO Packages, this is because the work we do needs to be seen to be as natural as possible. The main aim of the off page optimisation is to generate back links (links from other websites to your website) using your keywords within the link text. A website will naturally pick up back links, our techniques simply speed up this process and ensure the search engines stay interested in your site. Google perceives a back link as a recommendation for your site, naturally the more recommendations you have the more likely Google are to have confidence in promoting your site.

A PPC campaign is often setup as an interim measure until the organic traffic (the free search engine results on the left of the page) starts to pick up. Sometimes the campaigns are run continuously it all depends on the keywords you are interested in ranking for. The main advantage of PPC over obtaining organic traffic is being able to set it up and start receiving traffic the next day.
